Which EA founding member will play at Sunday Brunch? THIS GUY. That’s who. Oh also possibly me. But probably just aforementioned guy.
Sunday Brunch, the super show going down at the Annex on this Sunday, Oct. 17, will feature many great bands. Ava Luna is one of the best.
TALK TO ANIMALS. We are excited to see her Sunday. You should be too.
Sunday Brunch.
Catch True Womanhood, one of many stellar groups performing, this Sunday, Oct. 17 at Sunday Brunch at the Annex in Baltimore.
Dream Cargoes True Womanhood (Ghost Modern, Unreleased)
True Womanhood are a trio formed in 2008 in Washington, DC (gotta love bands nearby!). The band members are Thomas Redmond (vocals, guitar) Melissa Beattie (bass) and Noam Elsner (drums, electronics).
Dream Cargoes is a sort of darker, brooding kind of sound. It’s almost a little new wavey, in a really great way. It’s definitely more straight-forward rock than what I tend to post on here but it’s really good. I feel like True Womanhood, on this song, sort of fits in with bands like Brahms and Twin Shadow, that sort of 80s-esque nostalgia that captures all of the melancholy tones and emotions that made up a lot of pop back then.
Check this song out and if you like it keep an eye out for their album, Ghost Modern, which is already recorded and pending release.
They actually are putting out a 7” (on EA & Sockets Records) and then a cassette AND THEN possibly the full length. They recorded a lot. Its going to be an awesome season.

Sunday Brunch started out as pre-CMJ showcase for some bands that are touring around the area in the run-up to the festival but it has evolved into a mix between that original idea and a showcase for a bunch of our favorite bands around the region. It is a collaborative project between Breakfast of Champs records, FMLY blog, and EA/fifty*. All of the proceeds will be going to the touring bands and most of the groups will be bringing merch in-tow to help cover their costs of travel. These are some of the finest up-and-coming groups in the region and this is one show where you get to see a TON of them all in one place.
ALSO - special guests just confirmed! - the legendary DJ Scottie B. of Unruly Records and the Deep in the Game crew featuring DJ Mark Brown, Schwarz and Cex!
Show is on Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Annex (Ye$) (ask a friend in Baltimore if you need to know!) in 3E and 4W. Doors are at 2pm and the show will like run until midnight or 1am the following day. BYO Brunch.
